Mr. Bryce "Brock" J. LaPlante

Bryce J. LaPlante, “Brock”, 71 of Burke, NY passed away Friday, December 6, 2024, at The Alice Center, after a long battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving family. Brock was born on January 7, 1953, in Burke, NY, to the late Joseph and Grace (Crippen) LaPlante. He attended high school at Franklin Academy. After high school, Brock attended SUNY ATC of Canton where he earned his degree in accounting. On May 24, 1980, he married Roxanne Relation in Altona, NY. He was employed as an accountant at the Chateaugay Co-op and American Management Association. Brock was employed by the Town of Burke as a truck and snowplow driver. He held other jobs including Ice Storm clean-up crew, supervisor for the Census Bureau, construction for his nephew at McClain Construction, and setting up local Family Dollar stores. In his younger years, Brock was active in many sports including basketball, baseball, softball and bowling. He was a member of the Burke Fire Department and served as a past assistant chief. Brock was a devoted caretaker and trustee of the Ridgeway Cemetery for 25 years. He enjoyed playing marbles and cards, doing crossword puzzles, watching Jeopardy, hunting, and being outside. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Roxanne of 44 years; a daughter and son-in-law, Meagan and Coby LaCombe of Malone; a son and daughter-in-law, Nathan and Megan LaPlante of Churubusco; step-granddaughter, Tori Johnson; two grandsons, Colten and Levi LaPlante; a brother and sister-in-law, Joel and Mae LaPlante of Chateaugay; a sister and brother-in-law, Cathy and Larry Decosse of Churubusco; his mother-in-law, Carole Relation of Altona; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Joel Relation and Pam Letourneau of Altona, Howard and Sharon Lea Relation of Altona; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents and his father-in-law, Herbert Relation, Jr. There are no calling hours. A celebration of Brock’s life will take place on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at 1:00 at the Burke Fire Station. The family would like to invite all to attend. Donations in his memory may be made to the Burke Fire Department or Foothills EMS Ambulance Service.
