Mrs. Ethel M. Ouimet

Ethel M. Ouimet, 91, formerly of Chateaugay died Thursday, Aug. 4, 2022 at Penfield Place in Penfield, NY. Born on March 24, 1931 in Churubusco, NY, she was the daughter of Bruce and Helen (Paul) Moulton. She was married to Tiburtius “Bert” Ouimet on June 2, 1951 at St. Patrick’s Church. He predeceased her on Sept. 15, 1991. Ethel graduated from Chateaugay High School with the Class of 1948 and the Adirondack Commerce School in 1949. She was employed as an account clerk and financial officer for Chateaugay Central School, retiring in 2001 after 20 years of service. She was a member of the Chateaugay United Methodist Church. Ethel had a love for reading, sudoku’s and knitting, having knit many sweaters, hats, mittens and blankets over her lifetime. If visitors were coming, or she was invited to an event , or a bake sale was upcoming, you knew she would be baking cookies, pies or cakes. She had a special love for her family. She never hesitated to travel to catch an event, whether it was a grandchild’s or great-grandchild’s birthday, sporting event, plays or concerts. She also had a love for bowling and bowled in the Chateaugay Women’s Bowling League, as well as serving as their secretary for many years. She also enjoyed watching sporting events, especially U. Conn women’s basketball and the New York Yankees, whom she loved. She is survived by four sons, Ronald Ouimet and his fiancée, Roxy Ashline of Sun City, AZ, Thomas Ouimet and his companion, Debbie Lett of Knoxville, TN, Robert Ouimet and his wife, Heidi of Webster, NY, Jerry Ouimet and his wife, Lana of Shelburne, VT; a daughter, Kay Moser and her husband, Rob of Southbury, CT; 13 grandchildren, Jeremy, Jennifer, Shannon, Rachelle, Jason, Brett, Chelsea, Tiffany, Tawnya, JP, Lauryn, Haley and Kyle; 12 great-grandchildren, Justus, Rene, Addy, Luke, Eric, Gabriel, Aaliyah, Grayson, Brock, Isabella, Ava and Aaliyah; two sisters-in-law, Patricia Moulton and Sharon Ouimet; a brother-in-law, Donnie Ouimet and his wife, Bea; several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her parents; brothers, Walter “Bud”, Jack and Donald Moulton; sister, Kathryn Moulton; daughter-in-law, Debbie Ouimet; brothers-in-law, Allister (Marion), John and Joseph Ouimet; sisters-in-law, Rosemary (Charles) Swift and Madeline (Roger) LeBeau. Calling hours will be held at the Chateaugay Funeral Home on Thursday, Aug. 11 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the Chateaugay United Methodist Church on Friday, Aug. 12 at 11 a.m. with CLM Cora Smith officiating. Burial will take place at Eastside Cemetery, Chateaugay. Donations in her memory may be made to the Chateaugay United Methodist Church, Alzheimer’s Disease Research or the Alzheimer’s Association.
