Mr. Francis "Frenchie, Frank" Parent

Francis G. “Frenchie, Frank” Parent, 87, of Churubusco, passed away Friday, July 31, 2026 at CVPH Medical Center, Plattsburgh. Born on June 12, 1939 in Churubusco, NY he was the son of Theophile and Aldea (Perras) Parent. He was married to Shirley Recore on October 26, 1957 in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Churubusco. She predeceased him on May 8, 2024. Frenchie worked construction for his whole career, doing commercial work on bridges, schools and motels around the United States, including Florida, Louisiana, Alabama, and New York to name a few, before retiring in 2004. He was proud to say he worked on the Olympic ski jump in Lake Placid as well as the walkway at SUNY Plattsburgh. He was a skilled cabinet maker and could fix anything and even helped with maintenance and repairs at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Churubusco. He moved to Florida in 1981 before returning to New York in 2009. He was a member of Carpenters Union #291 and was a founding member and served as First Lieutenant in the Churubusco Fire Department. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and hunting. He loved to garden vegetables and flowers, and took great pride in his roses. He liked to play cards and enjoyed a good game of pool, even playing in tournaments in his earlier years. He loved spending time with his family. Frenchie is survived by his children, Ann Marie Ryley and her husband, Kenneth of Poughkeepsie, Brian Parent and his wife, Joann of Myersville, MD, Carmen Damour and her husband, Richard of Churubusco; ten grandchildren, Shawn Poupore, Jessica Johnston, Brittany Dyer, Andrew and Nicholas Damour, Victoria Foirey, Timothy Damour, Joshua and Noah Ryley and Kaitlin Parent; ten great grandchildren, Jayden and Jordan Johnson, Braydon and Brody Poupore, Dominic, Max and Lillian Fiorey, Caleb and Corbin Damour, Malia Ryley; two sisters-in-law, Jane Patnode of Middleton, Barbara Patnode of Plattsburgh; a brother-in-law, Donald Recore of North Carolina; as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides his wife, he was predeceased by his parents; four brothers and sisters-in-law, John Paul and Louise, Leo and Laura, Raymond and Annete and Leon and Bernice Lagree; and a sister and brother-in-law, Rita and Frank Labarre. Calling hours will be held at the Chateaugay Funeral Home on Friday, August 7, 2026 from 10 a.m. to noon. A prayer service will immediately follow in the funeral home chapel at noon. Burial will be held in Immaculate Heart Cemetery, Churubusco. Donations in Frenchie’s memory may be made to the Churubusco Fire Department.
