Mrs. Irene M. Beach

Irene M. Beach, 102, went home to be with the Lord on June 26, 2023. She was born in Malone, NY on January 29, 1921, the daughter of the late Joseph and Eva (Trombley) Shova, attending Notre Dame and St. Joseph’s schools. In 1940, she married George Donald Beach at Notre Dame Church, officiated by the late Rev. Charles DesRosiere. They were blessed with 11 children. George predeceased her in 1986. In years past, she was a communicant of St. John Bosco Church and a member of the Altar and Rosary Society volunteering at their social events. Irene was a beloved lifetime resident of Malone where she offered her many talents to families in the community. She was also employed by private businesses and as a home health aide, retiring in 1983. Irene and George had a large family and still had room in their hearts to host children through the “Fresh Air” Program for many years. Her children, 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren brought much joy and happy memories with the family reunions and travel. She truly enjoyed all the many visits from her nieces, nephews, and kind friends. She took pleasure from her crafts, sewing, making patchwork quilts, crossword and picture puzzles, vegetable, and flower gardens. She is survived by daughters, Patsy Bissonette of Leesburg, FL, Yvonne (Dennis) Jason of Baytown, TX, Sally (Lloyd) Gareau of Baldwinsville, NY, Mary Sairls of Colorado Springs, CO, Mitzi Brisson of Albany, NY; daughter-in-law, Linda Beach of Baldwinsville, NY; son-in-law, Bruce Henson of Orleans, VT; two brothers, Harold “Pug” (Patricia) Shova, Donald (Helen) Shova, and a sister, Shirley (Terry) Collum. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her children, Donald, George W., Susan Henson, Judy, Gordon and Daniel; son-in-law, Jerry Bissonette; brothers Nelson (Bertha) Shova, Francis “John” (Katherine) Shova, Raymond (Theresa) Shova, Bernard Shova; sisters, Eleanor Dufrane (Philip St. Denis), Mildred (Robert) Wallbridge, Alice (Elmer) Humiston, Viola Shova as well as half-sisters, Helen (Harry) Russell and Gladys (Theodore) Mayville. Calling hours will be held at St. Mary-Murphy-Wilcox Funeral Home from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, July 7. A prayer service will immediately follow in the funeral home chapel at 7 p.m. Burial and committal prayers will take place at St. John Bosco Cemetery at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 8. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Irene’s memory may be made to either Hospice of the North Country or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
