Mrs. Janet Irene Noel

Janet Irene Noel, 92, of Morrisonville, NY, formerly of Chateaugay Lake died Friday, January 15, 2016 at Meadowbrook Nursing Home, Plattsburgh, NY. Born in Greenville, NY on February 25, 1923, she was the daughter of Ford and Pearl (Walters) Roe. She was married to Francis M. Noel on July 5, 1947 in Catskill, NY. He predeceased her on 1993. Mrs. Noel graduated from Albany State College for Teachers in 1944. She taught in both Ellenburg and Lyon Mountain schools. She resided at Chateaugay Lake for 46 years before moving to Plattsburgh in 1993. She was a member of the New York State Retired Teachers Association, Senior Citizens Council of Clinton County, and a former communicant of St. Bernard's Church in Lyon Mountain. She also volunteered at CVPH for many years. Mrs. Noel is survived by 5 children; William Noel and Candace of Saranac, Thomas Noel and Lucy of Glenmoore, PA, Paul Noel of Underhill, VT, James Noel and Francis of East Bethel, VT, and daughter, Mary Ann Pageau of Chazy Lake; 8 grandchild Danielle Nicholson, Leslie Thayer, Elizabeth Ross, Scott and Sabrina Noel, Daniel, Josie and Haley Noel; and 3 great grandchildren; Noah and Molly Thayer and Kaitlin Ross. Mom's unwavering dedication, concern and care she had shown to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were obvious at all stages of her life. And her sweet and soft personality was cherished by the countless people she touched during her long journey. But the depth of her resilience and unselfishness became even more apparent during the latter stages of her life when the layers of her character and love were further exposed when facing the countless hardships that come with growing very old. She taught us life lessons on a daily basis simply by being herself. Mom left behind a legacy of the most honorable proportions. A legacy of showing us how to live a life properly and making us what we are…or should strive to be. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her parents; a brother, Merritt Roe and a sister, Mary Snyder. Calling hours will be held at Chateaugay Funeral Home on Monday, January 18, 2016 from 3pm to 7pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 in St. Bernard's Church with Rev. Ted Crosby officiating. Spring burial will take place at St. Bernard's Cemetery, Lyon Mountain. Donations in her memory may be made to the Lyon Mountain EMS Corp, PO Box 208, Lyon Mountain or the Regional Foodbank of NENY with a memo supporting the NAC or Crown Point School Back Pack program.
