Mrs. June F. Cook

June F. Cook, 91, formerly of Chateaugay, passed away Saturday, April 13, 2024 at the Alice Center, Malone with her loving family at her side. She was born on June 15, 1932 in Chateaugay, NY she was the daughter of Merton Sr. and Annie (Vaincourt) Bell. She was married to Irving M. Cook on March 8, 1948, in the Chateaugay United Methodist Church. He predeceased her on January 17, 2015. June attended Chateaugay High School. She worked as a cook and waitressed at Mill’s Diner, Chateaugay, Lakesider Restaurant, Chateaugay Lake and Cherry Knoll, Burke. She catered over 150 funeral dinners not including other parties over the years at the Chateaugay American Legion and ran the Corner Diner in Chateaugay for over 14 years. She was a member of the Chateaugay United Methodist Church and taught Sunday School for many years. She was a member the Frontier Chapter #204 Order of the Eastern Star, the Chateaugay American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and the Bellmont Hi-Rider Club. She enjoyed reading and playing cards with friends in her “cat shack”. June is survived by her six children and their spouses, William and Peg Cook of Estero, Florida, Bruce and Ann Cook of Earlville, NY, Kathy and James Johnston of Burke, NY, Cindy and Joe Pullen of Estero, Florida, Kim and Dana Luety of Rochester, Michelle and Matt Flynn of Chateaugay; 18 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her parents; a daughter Holly in 1983; a son, Steven in 2020; three sisters, Eva Brown, Shirley Furnia and Rita Patnode; two brothers, Merton Bell Jr. and Royce Bell. Calling hours will be held at the Chateaugay Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the Chateaugay United Methodist Church on Thursday, April 18, 2024 at 11 a.m. Burial will be held in Eastside Cemetery, Chateaugay. A reception will be held at the Barn at Bracy’s on Country Route 23 following the burial. Donations in June’s memory may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, Chateaugay United Methodist Church or the Chateaugay American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.
