Mr. Lloyd Thomas Silver

Lloyd Thomas Silver, 88, of Star Road, Ellenburg passed away Monday, November 28, 2016, UVM Health Network CVPH, Plattsburgh, NY. Born in Clinton, NY on March 25, 1928, he was the son of Lloyd Gerald and Catherine (Nichols) Silver. He was married to Eunice (Nichols) Silver on November 21, 1953 in Churubusco, NY. He worked at Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannemora, retiring in 1984 after 28 years of service. He was the owner of Lloyd T. Silver and Sons Excavating for over 50 years. He enjoyed woodworking, camping, fishing and was an avid hunter who loved being at hunting camp. He served in the United States Navy from 1946-1947 and received a World War II Victory Medal. He was a member of the Ellenburg Center Fire Department and a third degree in the Bishop Wadham Council 469 Knights of Columbus. He was a former member of the American Legion and a former President of the Adirondack Tractor Pullers Association. Lloyd is survived by his wife of 63 years; eight children, Linda (Silver) and Robert Cook, Michael Silver and companion Doreen LaHaie, Sandra (Silver) and Clarence Manor, Stephen Silver, Barbara (Silver) and Dale Winter, Patrick and Tina Silver, Lisa (Silver) and Tom Frenyea, Lloyd and Kim Silver; 15 grandchildren, Casey (Cook) Collins, Mathew Cook, Andrew Cook, Bobbi-Jo (Silver) Seymour, Michelle Silver, Travis Myatt, David Myatt, Lindsay Manor, Mary (Manor) Yelle, Jonathan Myers, Chad LaBombard, Troy LaBombard, Richard Silver, Wyatt Frenyea, Georgianna Frenyea; 13 great-grandchildren, Calleigh, Olivia and Adalynn Collins, Grace and Zoee Cook, Aleecia and Alexis Seymour, Connor Clark, Madyson Myatt, Branson and Lexi Yelle, Carson and Emalynn Myers and expecting number 14 in June; five sisters and two brother-in-laws, Marie (Silver) Clark, Theresa (Silver) Skelley, Irene (Silver) Bow, Bernadette (Silver) and Gerald Nichols, Leona (Silver) and Richard Manor; three brothers and a sister-in-law, Gerald and Wanda Silver, Victor Silver, Thomas Silver and companion Anna Wood; In-laws, Francis Nichols, Anna Silver, Sheila Silver, Lawrence and Norma Nichols; as well as many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and son Richard James Silver, his brothers Jim Silver and Kenneth Silver, brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws Darrell Bow, Lawrence Clark, Clarence and Gertrude Nichols, Norman and Doris Degon, Peggy Nichols, Joe Skelly and Doris Silver. Calling hours will be held at the Chateaugay Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 30 from 4 to 7 p.m. Members of the Knights of Columbus are asked to meet at 6:45 p.m. at the Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, December 1 at 1 p.m. at St. Edmunds Church in Ellenburg. A reception will be held at the Ellenburg Center Fire Station following Mass. Burial will be held at St. Edmunds Cemetery in the spring. Donations in his memory can be made to Ellenburg Center Fire Department.
