Mrs. Marjorie M. Decosse

Marjorie M. Decosse, 85, of Chateaugay died December 19, 2025 at the Alice Center, Malone. Born on May 5, 1940 in Churubusco, NY she was the daughter of Oliver and Elizabeth (Rousell) Boadway. Marjorie attended country school, then attended Chateaugay Central School upon its opening, earning her GED several years later. On June 25, 1960, she was united in marriage to Donald N. Decosse at St. Philomena Church in Churubusco, NY. Marjorie spent her life as a homemaker and was a very talented seamstress. She sewed numerous bridesmaids dresses, Halloween costumes and baby quilts through the years. In later years, she was famous for her “scarf blankets”. She enjoyed and took great pride in her flower and rose gardens. She was a master at the game of Canasta and rarely lost a game. She enjoyed reading and loved going to garage sales. She was the family historian, whenever you couldn’t think of a name, she would know who you were referring to. Marjorie is survived by her husband of 65 years, Donald; two daughters, Diane Fleming of Plattsburgh, Carrie (Bruce) McDonald of Chateaugay; two sons, Justin Decosse and Donnie (Heather) Decosse of Chateaugay; ten grandchildren, Parker, Paige, Maddie, Seth, and John Decosse, Aaron (Alison Brown) Decosse, Devin (Emily French) McDonald, Brooke (Zac) McCormick, Alexander and Olivia Fleming; three great-grandchildren, Gracelyn Decosse, Guy and Clare McCormick; four sisters, Mary Anne (Joseph) Ashfield of Morrisonville, Betty (Lyle) LaBombard, Annette (David) Martin of Chateaugay, Veronica (Edward) Tavernia of Churubusco; one brother, Nelson (Theresa) Boadway of Chateaugay; two sisters-in-law, Theresa (Thomas) Szypula of Lady Lake, FL and Linda Patnode of Peru, NY; as well as many niece and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; a brother, Joseph Boadway; a brother-in-law, William Patnode; a son-in-law, Shawn Fleming; and a grandson, Ryan Decosse. Calling hours will be held at the Chateaugay Funeral Home on Sunday, December 28, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick’s Church, Chateaugay on Dec. 29 at 11 a.m. Burial will be held in St. Patrick’s Cemetery in the spring. Donations in Marjorie’s name may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital as this was a life long charity Marjorie was devoted to.
