Mrs Muriel Denny

MURIEL G DENNY Muriel G Denny, age 89, died Friday evening, February 24,2012, at CVPH, Plattsburgh New York. She was born on December 12, 1922, in Lyon Mountain, New York, the daughter of Charles F Hansen and Marguerite (Alexander) Hansen. Upon the death of both her parents at a young age, she assumed the role of parent to two younger siblings and through the years, she was always affectionately known to her nieces and nephews as "Aunt Pop". She was married to Wendell L Denny on October 25, 1943, at Fort Smith, Arkansas while he was serving with the US Army. He predeceased her on April 28, 1994. A homemaker most of her life, she worked for Bay-Jay Manufacturing in Malone for a number of years. Following retirement, she and her husband spent their winters in Florida. Muriel was a member of the American Legion Post 1623 Auxiliary for 48 years. She enjoyed her flower garden and camp on Chateaugay Lake Narrows. Her hobbies included sewing, quilting, crocheting and embroidery. Her favorite pastime was playing cards with friends and relatives. She is survived by a son, Wendell C Denny and his wife, Joyce of Malone; a daughter, Pamela Ladd and her husband, Charles of Palm Bay, Florida; and a son, Robert L Denny, and his wife, Su-mei also of Palm Bay; grandchildren, Erik, Jennifer, Jessica and great grandchildren, Brandon and Jayden. Muriel is also survived by sisters-in-law, Gladys Hansen of Lyon Mountain; Theresa Hansen of Troy, New York; Connie Hansen of Cranford, New Jersey; Edith Denny of Phillips Wisconsin; and a brother-in-law, Elvin Denny and his wife, Margaret of Malone; along with several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by a sister, Kathleen, and brothers, Carl, Charles and John. Calling hours will Friday, March 2, 2012, at St. Bernard Church, Lyon Mountain from 10 to 11 am . Funeral will be at 11 am at the church with Rev. Ted Crosby officiating. Spring burial will take place in Morningside Cemetery in Malone . In lieu of flowers memorial donations in her name may be made to Lyon Mountain Fire & Rescue Dept.
