Mrs. Nina M. Morgan

Nina M. Morgan, 82, of Chateaugay, passed away Thursday, January 26, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. Nina was born on October 7, 1940, to Leo and Irene (Bush) Murray. She attended Chateaugay Central School and graduated with honors in 1959. She attended Plattsburgh State University where she earned her teaching degree. On June 15, 1963, she was united in marriage to D.J. Morgan at the Presbyterian Church in Chateaugay. Nina spent her entire career as an educator, teaching at various schools in Elizabethtown, Lewis, Avoca, and Burke, New York which was part of Malone Central School District. She retired from her alma mater, Chateaugay Central School in 2001 after teaching for more than 30 years in the sixth grade. Nina is survived by her husband of 59 years, D.J.; her three children, Deena (Neal) Peryer of West Chazy, Timothy (Daphne) Morgan of Massena, Danielle Morgan and her companion, Wil Monette of Chateaugay; grandchildren, Jon Peryer of Mooers, Nicole and Meagan Morgan of Massena, Kaelyn Morgan of Chateaugay, Dylan and Mia Monette of Altona; great grandchildren, Tenley, Talia and Tessa Peryer of Mooers; special nieces, Janice (Jerry) Blow of Chateaugay, Maureen “Mo” (Andrew) Mahoney of Buffalo, NY; a sister, Julia Casey of Ft. Edwards, NY; a brother, Glenn (Linda) Murray of Cheyenne, Wyoming, sister-in-law, Kristine Murray Mack of Williamsville, NY , and several nieces and nephews. Besides teaching and being with her family, Nina enjoyed reading, traveling, and Friday coffee dates with her dear friends, Mary and Emma. Her greatest joy in life was watching her grandchildren play sports. Nina was predeceased by her parents; brothers, M. Craig Murray, Owen (Myrtle) Murray, Dr. Garth A. (Jessie) Murray; sisters, Donna Murray, Leta (Kenneth) Lobdell; and niece Kathy Casey Spear. Calling hours will be held at the Chateaugay Funeral Home on Saturday, February 4, 2023 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Services will be private and at the convenience of the family Spring burial will be held in North Burke Cemetery on Saturday, June 3, 2023 at 11 a.m. Donations in Nina’s memory may be made to the North Burke Church and the Chateaugay Fire Department.
