Mrs. Patricia Martin Jones

Patricia Martin Jones, 92, of Chateaugay, NY died Friday, April 3, 2026, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Chateaugay, May 16, 1933, the daughter of Frank and Helen (Harness) Martin and the stepdaughter of the late Geneva Martin Ouimet and Walt Ouimet. Pat graduated from Chateaugay High School in 1950. She received both her bachelor's and master's degrees, cum laude, plus certification in guidance and special education from SUNY Plattsburgh. During her 37-year career in education, she was a school nurse teacher at Beekmantown Central School; a guidance counselor at Malone Central School and a special education teacher for F.E.H. BOCES in Malone. She was very active in her Teacher’s Association, serving that organization in many capacities, including 10 years as the president. Pat was a member of NYSUT, NYS Retired Teachers Association, FSNUR, American Legion Auxiliary, Women’s Bowling League, Chateaugay Historical Society, Chateaugay Revitalization Organization, St. Patrick’s Altar and Rosary Society. She was a communicant of St. Patrick’s Church and served on the St. Patrick’s Pastoral Council for several years. She loved to travel and did so whenever she could, to Europe, England, Ireland, the Caribbean, and throughout the USA. She was an avid reader, enjoyed crossword puzzles and antiquing. Pat was a loving mother and grandmother, devoting much time to loving and spoiling her two grandsons: attending all their activities, both academic and athletic. She was quite proud of them. Pat is survived by her son, Daniel and his wife, Wendy (Cook); grandsons, Brendan and Cullen; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and several close friends. In addition to her parents and grandparents, Pat was predeceased by one son, Peter in 1980 and a sister and brother-in-law, June and Adam Janisewski. Calling hours will be held at the Chateaugay Funeral Home on Friday, April 10 from 4 to 7 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am on Saturday, April 11 at St. Patrick’s Church. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to the Chateaugay Memorial Library, any organization that helps disabled children, Chateaugay Fire/Rescue Dept. or St. Patrick’s Church.
