Mrs. Trudy J. Lobdell

Trudy J. Lobdell, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on April 24 at the age of 70. Born on March 18, 1956, in Malone, Trudy lived a life defined by love, devotion, and quiet strength. She was known for her kindness, her unwavering support of her family, and the warmth she extended to everyone she met. She is survived by her loving husband, Arnold Lobdell, with whom she recently celebrated 51 years of marriage; her children, Chet and his wife, Farren; Matt and his wife, Marcela; and Kevin and his husband, Michael. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to her two grandchildren, Ruth and Beau, who brought her immense joy. Trudy is also survived by her sisters-in-law and brother-in-law: Theresa and her husband, Terry MacDowell; Cheryl and her husband, Chris Kopp; Phyllis Lobdell; and Alan Lobdell and his wife, Jessica; as well as many nieces and nephews. She shared a special bond with her cousin, Vi Moesch, and her lifelong best friend, Denise Patnode. She was predeceased by her parents, Douglas and Margaret (McCue) Barnes; her sister, Beverly; her brother, Randy, and his wife, Jackie; her brother-in-law, James Lobdell; her sister-in-law, JoAnn Brennan, and her husband, Pat; and other beloved family members. Trudy began working in the office at McCadam Cheese prior to graduating from Chateaugay Central School. After some time working in local convenience stores, she returned to the plant as a lab technician, always bringing her strong work ethic and friendly spirit to every role. She loved the outdoors and took great pride in working on the family farm, operating machinery whenever she could. She enjoyed caring for her lawn and garden, bowling, and snowmobiling. Trudy had a gift for conversation and cherished connecting with others—she could talk with anyone and made people feel seen and valued. Her presence was a source of comfort and strength to her family, and her legacy of love, resilience, and kindness will live on in all who knew her. Calling hours will be held at the Chateaugay Funeral Home, Saturday, May 2 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. A funeral service will be held immediately following in the funeral home chapel at 1 p.m. Burial will be held in Eastside Cemetery, Chateaugay. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to the Burke Volunteer Fire Department and Foothills EMS in Trudy’s memory. The Lobdell family extends their sincere gratitude to the caregivers, doctors, and nurses who cared for Trudy, including those at Alice Hyde Medical Center, Adirondack Medical Center, Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital, and Elderwood of Uihlein at Lake Placid. A meaningful way to honor her memory is by showing compassion and understanding toward mental health. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
