Mrs. Violet M. Dibble

Violet M. Dibble, 84, formerly of John St., Chateaugay died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012 at Uihlein Nursing Home, Lake Placid, NY. Born in Lyon Mountain, NY on April 6, 1928, she was the daughter of Leonard and Delima (Secore) Collins. She was married to Howard Dibble on March 10, 1945 in the Chateaugay Presbyterian Church. Violet attended Lyon Mountain School. She was employed at McCadam Cheese, Chateaugay and the Slipper Factory, Chateaugay. She was employed as a babysitter for area families. She also cleaned houses and mowed lawns. She was a member of the Chateaugay United Methodist Church. Violet donated her doll collection of over 350 dolls to the Uihlein Living Center Shop and the proceeds went to the patient activity fund. She has also crocheted and lovingly gave away hundreds of afghans, pillows, ornaments and more. She had a very generous and loving heart and always thought of everyone else first. She enjoyed sewing, jigsaw puzzles, crafts, shopping, playing cards and scratch tickets, watching birds and squirrels but most of all, she enjoyed her family and friends. Violet is survived by her husband of North Bangor; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Robert and Wendy Dibble of Chateaugay, Howard Dibble Jr. of Ohio; a daughter and son-in-law, April and David Pelkey of Burke; six grandchildren, Jamie Clookey, Jeanna Bartlett, Brian, Daniel and Michael Dibble, Amy Michael; twelve great-grandchildren, Tristen and Dayrien Dumas, Jayden Johnson, Kaydance, Angel Rose and Alyxzender Clookey, Damien and Lilly Ann Michael, Jace, Brittannie and Cheyenne Dibble, Brian Dibble Jr.; two step-grandchildren, Adam and Joshua Pelkey; a sister, Sylvia Durkee of Fort Covington; two brothers, Donald Collins of Lyon Mountain and Roland Collins of Plattsburgh; many nieces and nephews including a special niece, Lisa LaComb and her husband, Mark of Brainardsville. She was predeceased by her parents and 4 brothers, Maynard, David, Robert and Bernard and a sister, Anna. There are no calling hours. A memorial service will be held at 1 pm on Tuesday, Oct. 16 in Chateaugay United Methodist Church with Rev. Marty Connor officiating. Donations in her memory may be made to the Chateaugay Volunteer Rescue Squad.
