Mrs. Beatrice "Deed" O'Neill Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Beatrice Sweet “Deed” O’Neill, 91, of Chateaugay died Thursday, August 27, 2020 at CVPH Medical Center, Plattsburgh. Born on May 24, 1929 in Chateaugay, NY, she was the daughter of Merle and Frances (Arno) Sweet. She was married to Patrick O’Neill on August 20, 1949 in St. Patrick’s Church. He predeceased her on January 26, 1991. Deed graduated from Chateaugay High School with the Class of 1946 and the Adirondack Business School. She was employed as a clerk for the Franklin County Clerk’s Office from 1965 to 1991, retiring after 26 years of service. She was a communicant of St. Patrick’s Church and a member of the Chateaugay American Legion Auxiliary. Deed loved music and while in high school she went to Broadway with the school band. It was a high point in her life. She enjoyed crocheting and donated many projects to Catholic Charities. She was always crafting something for her loved ones. She was an avid reader and member of the Chateaugay Memorial Library. Deed loved her entire family intensely. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren held a special spot in her heart and were showered with her unconditional love. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Timothy and Monica O’Neill, John and Pam O’Neill; a daughter and son-in-law, Jackolin and Robert Hladik; six grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers and their spouses, Myrtle Murray of Altamont, Reginald Sweet of Chateaugay, Judy and Henry Nelson of Ogden, UT, Lee and Louise Sweet of Malone, Mercedes and Robert Light of Morrisonville; several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her parents; a brother, Alfred “Sonny” Sweet; a sister, Gertrude Adams. There are no calling hours. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, September 1 at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Chateaugay. Donations in her memory may be made to the Chateaugay Rescue Squad whom the family would like to thank for their special care and kindness to their mother.
