Mr. Dennis James Griffin

November 12, 1935 - April 24, 2022

Dennis James Griffin, 86, passed away on Sunday, April 24, 2022. Born in Burke, NY, on November 12, 1935 to Rolland and Laura Dora Griffin. Dennis lived many years in Burke, NY and attended local schools. He spent many years of his life farming in both Burke and Madrid, NY. He worked for Walsh Trucking for many years and retired as a Teamster Truck Driver. After retirement from Walsh Trucking, he purchased his own tractor trailer and did long haul trucking in partnership with Gordon Richards. They hauled loads for the US Government and delivered to installations across the United States. He had great pride in his country, the U.S.A. He enjoyed gardening, feeding and watching birds and telling stories to his family and friends. When Dennis was healthier, he took great pride in keeping a meticulous yard. He is survived by his children, Diane Latimer and her husband, James, Deena Claffey and her husband, Walter, Dennis Jr., and his wife, Francine, Donald, Darlene Nelson and her husband, William, Darrin and his wife, Janice, Dean and his wife, Julie, Daniel and his wife, Sharon; 14 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Bruce Griffin and his wife, Susan of Burke; five sisters, Jane Collins, Judy King and her husband, Joe of Burke, Sharon Griffin and Nancy Dora and her husband, Donald of Chateaugay and Betty Marlow and her husband, Thomas of Merrill. He was predeceased by his parents; a son, David; a daughter, Denise; a sister, Susie Lawrence; and brothers, Leonard, Otha, Maurice, Francis and William Griffin. A marriage to Elizabeth Anne ended in divorce. A private ceremony will take place at a later date at convenience to the family.
