Dewey LeClair, 92, of the Earlville Rd., Chateaugay died Friday, Aug. 1, 2014 at his home surrounded by his loving family and Hospice of the North Country. Born in Churubusco, NY on Oct. 3, 1921, he was the son of Peter and Rose Alma (Richey) LeClair. He was married to Helen LaBombard on July 15, 1942. Mr. LeClair owned and operated a dairy farm in Chateaugay for many years, retiring in 1973. He was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church and a former member of the Knights of Columbus, Grange, Johnson's Hunting Club and Dewey's Hilton. He enjoyed playing cards, fishing, gardening and was an avid hunter. Mr. LeClair is survived by his wife of 72 years; a son, Alan LeClair of Chateaugay; three daughters and sons-in-law, Alma and Terry Cable of Frisco, TX, Iris and Paul Walton of Fort Walton Beach, FL, Lila and Tom Herbst of Penfield, NY; three grandchildren, Lt. Col. Brande Walton, Casey Barrett and her husband, Brian, Brittany Herbst; a great-grandchild, Preston Barrett; a sister, Flora LaPoint St. Louis of Plattsburgh. He was predeceased by his parents; 4 sisters, Rose Alma Kette, Amy Colburn, Eva Furnia and Geraldine LeClair, and 2 brothers, Estie and Wayne LeClair. There are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 8 in St. Patrick's Church with Rev. John Looby officiating. A reception will follow mass in the basement of St. Patrick's Church. Donations in his memory may be made to Hospice of the North Country.
