Mr. Gregory William Riley

December 1, 1957 - July 16, 2020

Gregory William Riley, 62, of Burke NY, entered eternal rest Thursday, July 16, 2020 at the CVPH Medical Center surrounded by loving family and friends. Born on December 1, 1957 in Saranac Lake, Greg was the son of Raymond and Paticia (Tyler) Riley. He was married to Tina Jarvis on September 1, 2006, at their home in Burke. Greg graduated from Saranac Lake Central School and University of Phoenix with an Associate Degree in Security Management. A proud American, Greg enlisted in the Navy Seabees in 1976 and was honorably discharged in 1982. During his service, he constructed American Military bases around the world, and, was honored to have met President Ronald Regan and his wife after serving on "Project Rimstone" in 1981. Greg worked as a corrections officer for Bare Hill Correctional Facility, for 27 years. He was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church, and member of the Chateaugay American Legion and Disabled Veterans. Greg was also a founding sponsor of the Flight 93 National Memorial and a proud supporter of the Wounded Warriors Project. He is survived by his wife, Tina of 13 years; his mother, Patricia Riley; his sister, Kelly Riley; niece and nephew, Kelsey Randig and Tyler Randig; his brother and sister in-law, Gary and Cathy Riley and their children; seven children, Jason and Kent Nelson, Jennifer Riley and Eli Phinney, Trevor Riley, Cristin Riley, Matthew Riley, Kyle Lapan and Kalynne, Katelyn Lapan and Daniel Wiscovitch and six grandchildren. He was predeceased by his father, Raymond Riley; uncle, Charles Riley; aunt, Margerite; cousin, Kurt Riley. Calling hours will be held at the Chateaugay Funeral Home on Saturday, July 25 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Due to current health restrictions in place with COVID 19, Greg’s funeral mass will be private for the immediate family and invited guests but will be live streamed on Saturday, July 25 at 1 p.m. Please visit the following link: https://www.facebook.com/Deac2009/?epa=SEARCH_BOX A reception will follow at the Chateaugay American Legion 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. In accordance with current health restrictions, those in attendance are asked to observe the use of facial coverings and social distancing. Donations in his memory may be made to St. Bernard's Catholic School, Saranac Lake.
