Kathleen A. Fountain, age 84, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 26, 2017 with her loving family and the care of Hospice by her side. Born in Owls Head, NY on February 9, 1933, she was the daughter of Hugh and Irene (Courser) Safford. Kathleen attended a school house in Owls Head. She moved two grades ahead and entered high school in Malone at the age of 12 years old. On February 14, 1954, Kathleen and Donald were united in marriage. They were married for 61 years. Donald predeceased her on August 5, 2013. Kathleen started work at age 17 at the Alice Hyde Hospital in admitting. Throughout her life, she worked for Dr. Henderson, Dr. Cohen and Dr. Hollis. She also did bookkeeping for several local businesses. Her last job was working for Kurt Lyon at Citizen Advocates. Every job she held, she always made sure to be home before school let out to take care of her family. Kathleen enjoyed upholstering, driving her motorcycle and working in her flower garden. She was a eucharistic minister and she and her husband, Donald were Trinitarian members at Notre Dame Church. Kathleen and her husband Donald cared for many dogs and cats and loved them dearly. Special memories will be forever in the hearts of her children, Jeffrey and his wife, Margaret, Karen and her husband, Bill Ritchie and Christopher and his wife, Jennifer and grandchildren, Jacob Seymour, Dr. Jamie Fountain Capal and husband, Bernie, Emily (Ritchie) Jock and her husband, Joshua, Alex Ritchie and his wife, Ashley, Christian Fountain, Cole and Brody Fountain and Christopher Tucker. Besides her parents, Kathleen was predeceased by her sister, Linda in infancy, her brothers, Gerald and Bernard Safford and her sister, Janice Vidock. Calling hours will be held at St. Mary-Murphy-Wilcox Funeral Home on Saturday, October 28 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 1 p.m. in Notre Dame Church. Burial will take place at Notre Dame Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Hospice of the North Country. Lastly the family will forever be grateful for the wonderful care and compassion given to our mother from the caregivers, Kathy Dumas, Debbie LaPage, Edie Dumas and April Hence of MILC.
