Lyndon L. Baker "Buzz", 87, of the Gadway Rd. , Merrill died Sunday, July 12, 2015 at his home surrounded by his loving family and with the aid of Hospice of the North Country . Born on March 17, 1928 in Ellenburg , NY , he was the son of Howard and Edith (Arksey) Baker. He was married to Phyllis Cooper on September 25,1948 at the Centenary Methodist Church, Malone, NY by Rev. Harry Campbell She predeceased him on August 5, 2006. Buzz graduated from Northern Adirondack Central School . He owned and operated Adirondack Gas and Electric Appliances from 1955 until he retired in 1986. He was a village of Malone trustee in 1959, county legislator from 1972 to 1975, and board member of the former Citizen's Bank. Buzz enjoyed gardening, bowling, baseball and was an avid card player. He enjoyed his Thursday lunches at the golf club and the Friday night meetings at the Hollywood on Chateaugay Lake. He loved the wildlife in the Adirondacks especially the deer and feeding his pet fish in the boathouse. For many years, Buzz judged the horse races at the Franklin County Fair. He belonged to many organizations including the Elks Club, Amvets, Moose Club, American Legion in Malone and theNorthern Aurora Lodge #383 of Free and Accepted Masons, Malone. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Ann Baker; seven grandchildren, Carrie Latham and her husband, Sean, Heath Baker, Heather Castine and her husband, Scott, Seth Baker and his companion, Tousha Smith, Lindesay Seiferheld and her husband, Anthony, Brett Baker and his fiancé Vanessa Fish, Stephanie Baker and her companion, Joe White; 7 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; two sisters, Sherry Drown and Garmett Covey. Besides his wife, he was predeceased by his parents; a sister, Ermatrecia Lloyd; a brother, Douglas Baker; a grandson, Joseph Lyndon Baker. There are no calling hours. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 18 in the Lyon Mountain Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Marty Connor officiating. Donations in Buzz's memory may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or the Lyon Mountain Memorial United Methodist Church .
