Marjorie M. Cassavaw LaFlesh, 89, formerly of Chateaugay died peacefully at her home on Clay St., Malone on Thursday, Jan. 19, 2012 surrounded by her loving family and Hospice of the North Country. Born in Chateaugay, NY on Sept. 24, 1922, she was the daughter of Joseph and Belle Santamore Cassavaw. She was married to Bernard LaFlesh Sr. on November 21, 1941 at St. Patrick's Rectory by Rev. McClure. Mrs. LaFlesh was employed by McCadam Cheese, Chateaugay for 12 years. She was an active member of St. Patrick's Church involved in Altar and Rosary, Catholic Daughters, Pastoral Care, Volunteer of Religious Education and House of History. She was also chaplain of the John E. Harrica Post 875 American Legion Auxiliary in Chateaugay. Mrs. LaFlesh is survived by a sister, Theresa LaBarge of Dannemora; four daughters, Sheila Thibeault of Montreal, Canada, Margaret LaFlesh of Malone, Irene Greeno of Malone, Theresa Lewis of McMinniville, OR; a son-in-law, Dale Greeno of Malone; two daughters-in-law, Sharon LaFlesh of Chateaugay, Carol LaFlesh of Chazy; 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband; parents; 3 sons, Bernard LaFlesh Jr., Garry LaFlesh, Darrell LaFlesh; son-in-law, John Marc Thibeault; 3 brothers, Joseph, Olin and Maurice Cassavaw, and 3 sisters, Liza Scott, Mercedes Cassavaw, and Eva Hood. Calling hours will be held at Chateaugay Funeral Home on Sunday, Jan. 22 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 23 in St. Patrick's Church, Chateaugay. Spring burial will take place at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Chateaugay. Mother, we'll always remember you as God's gift to us (your children and grandchildren), just as flowers give joy and beauty, so you have given joy and beauty to us. Donations in her memory may be made to the Altar and Rosary Society.
