Mrs. Rita L. Kwetcian

November 30, 1930 - May 19, 2016

Rita L. Kwetcian, 85, of 260 Lake Street Senior Resort Community, Rouses Point, and formerly of Lyon Mountain died Thursday, May 19, 2016 at CVPH Medical Center, Plattsburgh, NY. Born in Lyon Mountain, NY on Nov. 30, 1930, she was the daughter of Alfred and Marguerite (Shutts) Pageau. She was married to Peter Kwetcian on January 14, 1950 in St. Bernard's Church, Lyon Mountain. He predeceased her on June 9, 2001. Mrs. Kwetcian was employed at the North Star Store, Lyon Mountain and the IGA, Dannemora. She then became employed as a welfare examiner for Clinton County Social Services retiring in 1987. She was a communicant of St. Bernard's Church, Lyon Mountain. She was a member of Merry Lyoneers Senior Citizens and their singing group, Lyon Mountain American Legion Auxiliary and the Mining and Railroad Museum. She enjoyed crafts, gardening, reading, cross country skiing, downhill skiing and vacationing with her husband, Pete. Mrs. Kwetcian is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Myrtle and Francis Siskavich of Lyon Mountain; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Mary Pageau of Lyon Mountain, Donald and Jeanie Pageau of Merrill; two sisters-in-law, Barbara Pageau of Lyon Mountain, Geraldine Kwetcian of Lyon Mountain; friends, Bernadette and Claire Kowalowski of Lyon Mountain; several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her parents; a sister, Veronica Lawrence, and a brother, Alfred Pageau. Calling hours will be held at St. Bernard's Church, Lyon Mountain on Monday, May 23 from 4 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 24 in St. Bernard's Church with Rev. Ted Crosby officiating. Burial will take place at St. Bernard's Cemetery, Lyon Mountain.
