Mrs. Sandra Jean Mainville
November 23, 1940 - March 25, 2022
Sandra Jean Mainville, 81, of Malone, and formerly Pinellas Park, Florida, passed away Friday, March 25, 2022 at home with her loving family by her side. She was born in Malone, the daughter of Henry and Ella (Kuchler) Tavernier. She graduated from Franklin Academy High School in 1958. Shortly after, she began working as a secretary for the NYS Education Department, Div. Of Voc. Rehabilitation. After leaving employment to stay home with her family, she returned to work in 1977 as an account clerk at the William Mansion Nursing Home. From there, she went to work at Franklin Correctional Facility, and in March 2003 retired as Payroll Clerk from Upstate Correctional Facility. On September 30, 1961, she married Gayle Paul Mainville at Notre Dame Church. He predeceased her on September 15, 2015. She was a communicant of St. Andre Bessette Parish. Sandra enjoyed every minute spent with her family and friends, traveling, playing cards, camping, bowling, golf, bingo and going to the casino. She was a member of the Women of the Moose for many years, and a 4-H leader. She also enjoyed volunteering at the Office for the Aging. Surviving are a son, Michael and his wife, Donna of Malone; three daughters, Susan Mainville and her companion, Gary Stutz of Squaw Valley, Cal., Karen Johnson and her husband, Roy, Jean Smith and her husband, Dan ; grandchildren, Erica Heden and her husband, Jared and their daughter, Josie, Brooke Johnson of Malone, and Braiden of Stratford, Ct; a brother, Ronald Tavernier and his wife Marsha; three sisters-in-law, Diane Mainville, Pansy Perry and Dawn Mainville; several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by parents and a brother, George Tavernier. There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 pm on Thursday, March 31 at Notre Dame Church. Burial will take place at Notre Dame Cemetery. Immediately following the burial, celebration of Sandra’s life will be held for family and friends at Donovan’s Restaurant. Donations may be made in her name to the Malone Adult Center and Hospice of the North Country.
