Mrs. Sondra A. Knox

Sondra A. Knox, 85, of Chateaugay died Monday, April 4, 2022 at The Alice Center, Malone. Born on May 4, 1936 in Malone, NY, she was the daughter of Erwin and Mary Alyce (Purdy) Primeau. Her first marriage was to Lester Poupore on June 16, 1956. He predeceased her on Oct. 2, 1995. Her second marriage was to Edwin Knox on Oct. 28, 1998. He predeceased her on Dec. 20, 2012. Sondra graduated from St. Joseph’s Academy. She was employed as a laboratory technologist for Alice Hyde Medical Center for over 25 years. She then became employed for Dr. Alfred Hartman Jr. for ten years. She was a communicant of Notre Dame Church. Sondra enjoyed swimming, boating and spending time on Chateaugay Lake. She loved playing bridge and belonged to the Malone Duplicate Bridge Club. She is survived by two sons, Richard Poupore and his wife, Jodie Cymbrak and John Poupore; a daughter, Julie Valentine and her husband, John; four grandchildren, Christopher Poupore and his wife, Kristen, Samantha Poupore, Erika Valentine, Emily Valentine; two great-grandchildren, Damon and Nadia Poupore; special cousins, Marilyn Felion, Sheila Trainer and Patsy Lee Primeau; second cousins, Joseph and Christine Eggsware. Besides her husbands, she was predeceased by her parents and a cousin, Elizabeth Purdy Eggsware. There are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:05 p.m. on Friday, April 8 at Notre Dame Church. Burial will take place at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Lake Titus Road. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Good Samaritan Pantry.
