William G. Tavernia, 81, of the Campbell Rd., Churubusco died Friday, March 20, 2015 at CVPH Medical Center, Plattsburgh, NY. Born in Malone, NY on March 11, 1934, he was the son of William and Florence (Tebo) Tavernia. He was married to Shirley Taylor on June 7, 1969 in St. Patrick's Church. Mr. Tavernia was a member of the North American Hunting Club. He enjoyed hunting and fishing but especially spending time with his family. Mr.Tavernia is survived by his wife of 45 years; a son and daughter-in-law, William and Gina Tavernia; two daughters, Ann Cardin and her companion, Kevin Whitney, Jeanie Tavernia; nine grandchildren, Anthony, Christopher, and Chelsie Cardin, Alex and Harley Tavernia, Jordan Dibernardo, Kevin Whitney Jr., Nicole Parrotte, Krista Zindler; a great-grandson, Travis Bushey; four sisters, Joyce Barlow, Marge Boadway and her husband, Walter, Betty Taylor and her husband, Edward, Jean Brockway and her husband, Bob; a brother and sister-in-law, Edward Tavernia and his wife, Veronica; sister-in-law, Geneva Tavernia; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Theodore Taylor, Richard Taylor, Carl and Bobbie Taylor, Martha Taylor, Mary Cook, Theresa Shatlaw; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Theodore and Marion Taylor; three brothers, Charley, Tommy and James Tavernia, and two sisters, Rita Morrison and Lillian. Calling hours will be held at the Chateaugay Funeral Home on Thursday, March 26 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 27 in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church with Rev. Ted Crosby officiating. Spring burial will take place at Immaculate Heart Cemetery, Churubusco.
