Mrs. Dava R. Thompson

Dava R. Thompson, 86, of Pierpont Avenue, Malone, New York, passed peacefully in hospice care on Friday, June 9, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. Born on November 13, 1936, in Malone, NY, Dava was the daughter of Raymond and Beulah (Boyer) Sancomb. She married John Thompson on July 16, 1960, at Notre Dame Church, with the Rev. Robert Lamitie officiating. Dava lived most of her life in Malone, after graduating from Franklin Academy in 1954. When she met John, Dava was working as an operator for the telephone company. In the early 80s, Dava worked as a rural mail carrier and then at K-mart, until her retirement in 1990. Dava was a member of Notre Dame Church. She loved eating out with her friends and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Dava’s world revolved around her family. Whether in person or with a phone call, Dava never missed a birthday, graduation, or family function. She will always be remembered as the most selfless, thoughtful, and loving mom, grandma, great-grandma, sister, aunt, and friend. Dava is survived by her daughter, Debbie Cooper, of Niskayuna, NY; son and daughter-in-law, John and Nanette (Piccarreto) Thompson of Webster, NY; and daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Richard Krempecki, of Watervliet, NY; seven grandchildren, Nicole (Cooper) Tricchinelli and husband Peter of Loudonville, NY, Zachary Cooper of Rotterdam, NY, Natalie and Joseph Thompson of Webster, NY, Katelyn, Sara and Kyle Krempecki of Watervliet, NY; and a great grandson, John Tricchinelli. Dava is also survived by her brother, Raymond Sancomb, and his wife, Rose, of Malone, NY, many nieces and nephews, and her fat cat, Jameson, who now resides in Niskayuna NY. Dava’s husband, John, predeceased her, in 2009. Calling hours will be Monday, June 19, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the St. Mary-Murphy-Wilcox Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday, June 20, at 12 pm at Notre Dame Church. Burial will take place in Notre Dame Cemetery.
