Mr. James Robert Cook

James Robert Cook, 71, of the Jericho Rd., Chateaugay died Sunday, Dec. 28, 2014 at his home surrounded by his loving family and Hospice of the North Country. Born in Chateaugay, NY on July 30, 1943, he was the son of Lloyd and Almira (Porter) Cook. He was married to Brenda Kline on February 24, 1968 in Lyon Mountain Methodist Church by Reverend Latimer. Mr. Cook graduated from Chateaugay Central School. He owned and operated his own farm for many years, retiring in 1990. He then became employed as a motor vehicle operator for the NYS Dept. of Corrections, working at Clinton Correctional Facility and retiring from Franklin Correctional Facility in 2006. Mr. Cook was a member of the Chateaugay United Methodist Church, the Burke and Chateaugay Fire Departments and a former member of Frontier Lodge #517 of Free and Accepted Masons. He loved farming, working, hunting, gardening and enjoyed playing baseball and softball. He treasured his friends and family. He never let his medical problems interfere with his passion for living. He enjoyed laughing and making other people laugh. Mr. Cook is survived by his wife of 46 years; a daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie and Ronald Leffler of Constable; a sister and brother-in-law, Ann and Charles Cheyne of Chateaugay; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Harold Cook of Chateaugay, Lyle and Phyllis Cook of Chateaugay, Donald and Jeanine Cook of Stonybrook, NY; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Gary and Phyllis Rivers of Cadyville, Roy Kline of Morrisonville, Sally Kline of Morrisonville, Ida Wilson of Chateaugay; several nieces and nephews; his special dog, Bailey. He was predeceased by his parents; a brother, Garth Cook; a sister-in-law, Janice Cook; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Royden and Constance Kline, and a brother-in-law, Jerry T. Kline. Calling hours will be held at the Chateaugay Funeral Home on Wednesday, Dec. 31 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Derek Trudell of the Burke United Methodist Church officiating. Spring burial will take place at Eastside Cemetery, Chateaugay.
