Mrs. Joan Ann Farrell

Joan Ann Farrell, 84, of Phillips Court, Lyon Mountain passed away Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at her home with her loving family by her side and aided by Hospice of the North Country. Born on April 11, 1939 in Plattsburgh, NY she was the daughter of Frederick and Mary Josephine (Gregory) Lawrence. She was married to John Riley Farrell Jr. on August 23, 1958 in St. Bernards Church, Lyon Mountain by Rev. Kellog. Joan graduated from Lyon Mountain High School in the class of 1958. She was a communicant of St. Bernard’s Church and served as a Eucharistic Minister. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters, the Blue Army of Mary and the Third Order of Franciscans. She served as a religious education teacher for third and fourth grade. She loved her church and proudly sang in the St. Bernard’s Choir for 77 years. Joan was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved her family whole heartedly and cherished her time she spend with them and friends. She loved to sing, garden, decorate cakes, bowl, play bingo and do crafts. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, John Riley Jr. of Lyon Mountain; three daughters and sons-in-law, Joanne (Lorrie) and Arek Malhas of Babylon, NY, Ann Marie and Darren Oakes of Plattsburgh, Karen Marie and Stephane Hebert of Plattsburgh; a son and daughter-in-law, John Andrew and Linda Farrell of Dannemora; nine grandchildren, Jessica M. Griffin, Kevin Dubuque, Alex and Shant Malhas, Mallory Carron, Victoria Kemp, Sarah and John Farrell and David Owen; three great grandchildren, Owen Herrick, Desmond Owen and Riley Kemp; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; and siblings, Catherine Scully, Ted Lawrence, Mary Schiniqoi, Donald Lawrence, Beverly Lawrence, Fran Delcore, Gerald Robert, Clarence, Daniel and Joseph Lawrence and Eleanor Zellner. Calling hours will be held at St. Bernard’s Church, Lyon Mountain on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 from 9 a.m. to noon. A Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow at noon. Burial will be held in St. Bernard’s Cemetery, Lyon Mountain in the spring. Donations in Joan’s memory may be made to St. Bernard’s Church, Lyon Mountain and Hospice of the North Country, Malone.
