Mr. John "Jack" Fleury

John “Jack” Fleury, 85, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 12, 2026, at Alice Hyde Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Malone, NY, on February 20, 1941, he was the son of Bernard and Olga (Leroux) Fleury. Jack grew up with a deep pride for his roots on the family farm and Fleury’s General Store on Briggs Street Corners, a local staple his father operated for over six decades. On August 17, 1968, Jack married his beloved wife, Diane (LaChance), at St. Mary’s Church in Brushton. A dedicated businessman, Jack spent 54 years shaping the local community through Fleury Realty and Malone Homes, helping hundreds of North Country residents find and build their homes. His profound impact on the local real estate industry earned him the title of Realtor of the Year by the Northern Adirondack Board of Realtors in the 2000s. Jack was deeply committed to his faith and community. He was an active communicant and board member at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Constable. Additionally, he lent his time to the Rotary Club, Malone American Legion, Knights of Columbus, Elks Lodge, and served dedicatedly on the Alice Hyde Hospital Board for several decades. He had a remarkable gift for seeing beauty where others saw only rust. He loved searching for antique cars, often traveling far and wide to find forgotten treasures hidden away in barns, garages, fields and chicken coops. Once he found a car, he would dedicate countless hours to restoring it, carefully repairing every detail and bringing it back to life with patience, skill and pride. The process was never rushed, each vehicle was a labor of love that reflected his craftsmanship and determination. Watching an old, neglected automobile turn into a shining piece of history brought him immense joy. The cars he restored became much more than collector's items- they were cherished parts of family memories, proudly driven in parades, featured in family weddings, and enjoyed during countless celebrations. He also wanted to share his love of automobiles with others, so he was a cofounder of the Malone Auto Club and the annual Malone Car Show that still exists today. Jack’s legacy lives on through his family. He is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Diane, and their four children: Denise St. Mary and her husband, Jeffrey, of Hingham, MA; Nicole St. Mary and her husband, Stephen, of Medfield, MA; Jason Fleury of Clay, NY; and Brian Fleury and his wife, Erin, of Florida, NY. He was the proud grandfather of Alyson, Luc, Trent, Ella, Jack, Sam, Kate, Shea, and Tyler. Surviving family also includes his sisters, Joanne Foisy and her husband, Hector, and Cheryl LeBlanc; his sister-in-law, Elizabeth Fleury; and several nieces and nephews. He joins in eternal rest his parents; his brothers, Lloyd and Stephen Fleury; his sister, Elaine Brandt; his sister-in-law, Ida Mae Fleury; his brother-in-law, Richard Brandt; and his brother-in-law, Robert LeBlanc. Calling hours will be held at St. Mary-Murphy-Wilcox Funeral Home on Friday, June 19 from 4 to 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 20 at St. Francis of Assisi Church, Constable. Burial will take place at St. Francis Cemetery. Donations in his memory may be made to St. Francis of Assisi Church in Constable, NY or the Westville (NY) Volunteer Fire Department.
