Mrs. Margaret "Peg" Boyea

Margaret Ann “Peg” Boyea, 85, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 28, 2026 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on October 13, 1940 in Brainardsville, the daughter of Joseph and Marguerite (Gardner) Perry. She was married to John “Jack” Boyea on November 28, 1959 at St. Jude’s Church, Brainardsville by Father Igo. Peg was known for her warm heart, kind spirit, and the way she made those around her feel welcome and cared for. She lived a life rooted in compassion, generosity, and quiet strength, leaving a lasting impression on family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. She is survived by her beloved husband of 66 years, John “Jack” Boyea, and her three children, Jo Ann (Mike), Stephen (Anne), and John (Michelle). Peg was a proud and devoted grandmother to nine grandchildren: Maggie, John, James, Michaela, Stephanie, Courtney, Patrick, J. Michael, and Jackson. She was also blessed with nine great-grandchildren, with one more on the way. As well as a brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Anne Perry and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; and two brothers, Bernard and John “Jack” Perry. Peg received a Masters of Education from SUNY Plattsburgh and was an educator in the Malone Central School District where she taught Kindergarten and First grade for 30 years. She retired in 2003. Peg was deeply involved in her community and gave generously of her time and energy. She served as a hospice volunteer for 30 years as well as a board member of Hospice of the North Country. She served on the local library board and was instrumental in the efforts to build a new library, leaving a lasting legacy for future generations. She also served on the board for the Burke Adult Center for a number of years. A devoted Catholic, Peg served on the parish counsel, was a Eucharistic minister, and a dedicated member of the Altar Rosary Society. She also volunteered for the Annual Harvest Dinner for many years. Her faith was a guiding force in her life and a source of strength to those around her. Peg enjoyed an active and joyful life. She was an avid walker and over the years she loved spending time playing tennis, downhill and cross-country skiing, golfing, bowling and most recently developed a passion for pickleball. She found great happiness in gardening and nurturing her plants. Throughout her life, Peg found joy in the simple things—time spent in the comfort of her home, spending time with family and friends and “making memories”. She will be remembered for her unwavering love, her gentle nature, and the countless ways she showed up for others. Peg’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished. The family would like to thank the team at UVM Medical Center Hematology and the McClure Miller Respite House for their kindness, compassion and care. Calling hours will be held on Monday, April 6 at the Chateaugay Funeral Home from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick’s Church on Tuesday, April 7 at 11 a.m. Burial will be held in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Chateaugay. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Hospice of the North County and St. Patrick’s Church.
