Mrs. Marilyn A. Gadway

Marilyn A. Gadway, 74, of Chasm Falls died Friday, April 17, 2026 at the Alice Hyde Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. Born in New Jersey on October 1, 1951, she lived in Pine Brook until she was 14 years old then moved to Duane, NY. She was the daughter of Nancy (Collette) and Douglas LaFlesh, Sr. She graduated from Franklin Academy High School in Malone, NY with Class of 1969, and graduated with an associate’s degree in Applied Science in 1989 from North Country Community College. Marilyn enjoyed sewing with her daughters everything from prom gowns to Halloween costumes for her grandchildren. She also enjoyed ceramics and creating meaningful handmade gifts. She was known for her cooking and baking. Her home was always a place of warmth and comfort. She also loved flowers and found joy in their simple beauty. She had a lifelong love for animals, especially cats and Pekingese dogs, and dedicated an endless amount of time to helping animals through Focus on Ferals. Before retiring, Marilyn worked in a variety of roles throughout her life, ending her career at Computer Designs Unlimited which she finally found her true calling. She took pride in her work and the relationships she built along the way. Marilyn loved traditions, endless summers at Hannawa Falls, yearly vacations, camping with her family and the excitement of Black Friday shopping. She will be remembered for her kindness, creativity, sense of humor and the deep love she had for her family. She is survived by her husband, Gary whom she married on July 3, 1971; children, Melissa Marshall, Brian Gadway and his wife, Claudette, Heather Gadway and her fiancé, Frank Quimby, Angela Penera and her husband, Marcos; grandchildren, Jared (Stephanie) Marshall and their sons, Kade Marshall and Kasen King, Matthew (Brooke) Gadway and their daughters, Everleigh, Marlowe and son, Montana, Tyler Gadway and Taylor Gadway, Autumn (Kevin) Cayea, Samantha MacDonald and Connor MacDonald, Rebecca, Kristyn, Benjamin and Grayson Penera; siblings, Douglas (Mildred) LaFlesh, Jr., Eugene (Gail) LaFlesh, John (Crystal) LaFlesh, Michael (Mary) LaFlesh, Jacqueline (Brent) Poquette; brother-in-law, Donald Raville as well many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her mother; sister, Donna Raville; grandparents, Arthur and Gertrude LaFlesh, John Jr. and Mabel Collette. Calling hours will be held at St. Mary-Murphy-Wilcox Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 22 from 4 to 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 23 at St. Helen's Church, Chasm Falls. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery and following the services there will be a Celebration of Life at the Amvets, Malone NY. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Focus on Ferals or St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
